  • Using M105 and leaves residue that is hard to remove by microfiber...

    hi everyone.

i just have a question about the M105...

i already attended the advanced detailing class and all...

i already did some detailing on the new beetle, the new lexus, and a range rover...and a 1999 BMV 5 series...it leaves that white color residue on the paint, and its kinda hard to remove it by a microfiber after using a buffer.

i am using a cheap buffer and a wool pad on the M105, and im just guessing the speed on the buffer, which it should be about 1500 rpm, i guess...(still dont have enough money to buy the makita...hehe.)

i pretty much remember that i should not apply to much pressure on the buffer, per the advanced detailing class...

i do not have any problem with the M205.

    help please...

    thanks.

I have noticed that when working with the rotary and M105 it is possible to accidentally lift pressure for a split second and it seems to almost glaze the M105 over, turning it hard.

It can also occur if you work too large of an area, leave some M105 on the paint while you travel to fresh paint, and then come back after it dried.

I have a bottle of 50/50 water and Last Touch that I keep handy as a quick spritz and it quickly breaks the hardened M105 up. It's also great because it adds lubrication to reduce the chance of marring during removal.

Meguiar's M105 is a compound that others are judged by. I've found that it works very quickly and it's designed that way.

I use it with a rotary and either a yellow or orange foam pad at 1300 to 1500 rpm. To minimized the problem you're having be sure that yo prime the pad properly. Most who use this do not and the pad ends up absorbing the product rather than putting it on the surface where it belongs. Some also give the area or pad a couple of squirts of clean water to keep the product wet enough to work.

oh. haha. whats so funny is my father-in-law tried adding a spray of water to remove it, and it worked fine...hehehe.

        thanks for the tip guys!!!

        i still love the results!!!

you guys are right! probably the yellow wool pad absorbed a lot of the M105, or i lifted the rotary buffer... still... the range rover i detailed last weekend was mirror shine!!! and its color black!!!

i already have the last touch detailer spray, and that i will use next time.

        thanks guys!!!

Meguiars M105 and M205 is still the best!!!

Make sure you're keeping your pads really clean as well. Spur then regularly - like after every panel if not sooner. If you're even slightly overusing the product the need to clean the pads often is even more essential.

What does "spur" mean? Is this when you hold a towel over the pad and turn on the buffer?

A spur is a tool designed specifically for cleaning wool pads while still on the rotary buffer.

yup. i will keep than in mind michael.
but i just spur the yellow wool pads maybe just twice.
i will clean them more often.

                  thanks michael.

i miss going there at the irvine HQ.
