Imprint Chips - Chips in the paint caused by a thrown egg


When an egg is thrown at a car's painted panel, the force of the shell impacting and breaking up against the paint leaves a very specific type of chip pattern I call Imprint Chips.

Fixing Imprint Chips is very difficult because there are usually lots of them in varying sizes including very tiny chipped areas.

I had this in a collection of photos for paint defects but I"m really good about getting permission, (usually), and giving full credit like this,

I have this on my trucks door, definately a victim of the imprint chips... My uncle who just purcashed a used H2 also had this on his truck.... It's a cruel cruel world

This is why I stay outside and watch my car from the top of my driveway on gate night. I am usually out there until like 2 am to be safe.

Sadly, short of a repaint, not really. Your only option is to try and dab the individual spots with touch-up paint via toothpick. It won't be perfect, but it might be slightly less noticeable.

A soft ball (tennis ball, etc..) impact will also leave similar damage.
