I bought Scratch X 2 & tried to remove some very small scratches.
The surface feels very smooth,i can't feel the scratches so they are not deep.
    Why did'nt scratch X work.
How can i remove these scratches.
The paint is Tuxedo Black Metallic.

Are you applying by hand or DA?

      By hand.
      I tried it 4 times.
      Scratches still there.
The scratches are really very fine & i can't feel them with my hand.

Are you working on the 2010 Mercury Milan Premier? By any chance was the area you're trying to correct repainted? What are you using to apply the Scratch X2 and how big of an area are you working with?

            Yes it is the Milan
            No it wasn't repianted.
The area is about a 6" diameter.
I used a terry conton towel to apply.

Terry towels can be aggressive.. you are certain it is the original scratches still there, and not 'new' ones being worked around from the towel?

Meaning is it actual scratches, or a hazy/swirled area that wont go away?

How aggressively did you apply the product? Did you just rub it on lightly like you would with a wax and then wipe it off?

                  It's the original scratches.
I rubbed across the scratch with a little pressure & i even tried a circular motion.

                    Re: Can't remove scratches

It sounds like you just need to work a bit more aggressively to correct the issue. Even if you can't feel the scratch, paint is actually quite hard relative to the task at hand so leveling it by hand can take some effort.

Don't be afraid to put some serious elbow grease into the job, but be selective about your applicator. Terry cloth can be quite aggressive in its own right and can easily haze dark colored paint while removing the scratch. It's quite common that our call center receives a call from someone complaining that ScratchX 2.0 removed a scratch but left the paint looking hazy and dull. The reality is that ScratchX 2.0 has nothing in it that can haze the paint, but certain applicators can. When our guys get a call like this they know almost immediately that terry cloth was used and they'll ask the customer to go back over the same area with the same ScratchX 2.0 but use a soft foam wax applicator. Quite often after that the same customer will call back complaining that "I now have a nice shiny spot where I used the ScratchX 2.0 so, um, do I have to do the whole car now??"
