  • How to polish a scratched wood panel?

    Hi everyone

My car came with some high-gloss mirror reflection black wood panels, they r easily scratched and with small swirls all over, any ideas how to polish/restore them ?

i belive those r covered in clear coat, similar to those over exterior paint, so can i use UC or SwirlX? If so, which tool shall i choose? foam pad? MF?

    thanks.

Start with something mild like SwirlX and either a foam pad or microfiber. Use light pressure to start with and take your time here - rushing, using too much pressure, too aggressive of a liquid or applicator will only cause hazing and micro scratches that will just further degrade the appearance of the finish.

Depending on how soft the clear is on this trim you may find that even ColorX provides enough power to bring back the shine you're after.

      thanks for the advice!

It's more like a panel, around 4 x 5 inches which slides over the area where the gear knob supposed to be in most cars. Already tried ScratchX + foam pad on a similar wood trim i removed from an old audi, 3 passes removed most scratches and swirls and no hazing, will try it on the actual panel tomorrow.
