Using the Foam Pad Cleaner solution after polishing

If you've ever polished bare metal you know how dirty the applicator gets, and how difficult it can be get it even moderately clean for it's next use. We've addressed that situation with the Foam Pad Cleaner included in the Wheel Polishing Kit. After all, what good is it if you can't get the applicator clean after just a single use?

Here's what the DynaCone looks like after a single use. Pretty typical when polishing metal, but a real mess.

The preferred cleaning method involves just one ounce of Foam Pad Cleaner and a couple of buckets - or one bucket and a source of running water.

Start by pouring just a small portion of that one ounce of Foam Pad Cleaner onto the base, or lower, portion of the DynaCone, then pour the rest into an empty (but clean) bucket.

Now put the DynaCone into the bucket, tip first, and start working it into the Foam Pad Cleaner. You want to get thorough saturation of the cleaner into the cone, so work it with your hands if necessary.

You'll start to get some thick foam on the cone as you continue to work it against the solution. Remember, just one ounce of Foam Pad Cleaner is all you need!

Now add water to the bucket with the Foam Pad Cleaner in it - the bucket you've been using for the initial cleaning of the pad.

Start working the solution through the DynaCone with your hands. Squeezing the cone is fine, but don't wring or twist it.

This is the level of cleaning obtained with the first hand working of the cleaner through the cone.

No need to add any more Foam Pad Cleaner here, just keep working it through the water you've added to the bucket. Massage the DynaCone in the water, working the solution through it, and then squeeze it out, repeating this process as often as needed to thoroughly clean the cone.

Once the DynaCone is clean to your satisfaction it's time to rinse it out. Using the second bucket with plain water, or a source of running water, use the same process as above - submerge the cone and work it with your hands, then squeeze it out. Repeating as needed to remove any Foam Pad Cleaner from the cone.

When finished you'll have a DynaCone that's so clean it looks like it has never been used!

Your initial cleaning bucket will look like this.....

..... and your rinse bucket will look like this.

Here's a sample of the cleaning solution after cleaning the DynaCone.....

..... and here's the freshly cleaned DynaCone itself, ready for a future polishing session. Set it aside to dry before next use, of course.

Very nice, perhaps it will replace my Mothers Powercone, its beginning to look dingy.

Is this the same or similiar foam to the yellow polishing pad?

Very cool! Now I can replace the Mothers PowerCone I've been using that has been torn up by sharp edges on wheels.

I've been putting off purchasing a wheel polishing tool, but now that my favorite brand has released one I don't think I will anymore!

                Looks like a good product!

What are the chances that this cleaning solution will be released as a standalone product as a general foam pad cleaner?

Apologies for missing your question, Allen. No, it is not the same foam as our W8xxx paint polishing pads. It is specifically designed for metal polishing.

The chances are very good indeed.

I'm very impressed that Meguiar's would not only come out with a product like this but be thoughtful enough to make and include a cleaner for it too.

I'm almost tempted to buy it, even though I don't really need it!

The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
