  • Re: Ultimate Polish

UP used by hand would not do very much in the way of swirl removal - it may perhaps remove the most minor of swirls. To do that, yes you would have to apply some passion (or "power" as you say) behind the pad.

For moderate to heavy swirls though, I would suggest UC if you're working by hand. Then you could follow that up with UP if you wanted to, or if the UC left some marring behind.

I've washed and wax more than 1 car but far from a detailing junkie... Can you please explain? For example my '96 is dark green with plenty of flaws. In general the paints in great shape but theres enough marks that probably wont rub out to make some filling an option...

The M105 and UC are very similar products. M105 is slightly more agressive and slightly less user friendly.

The M205 and UP are also similar. UP would contain more polishing oils.

For a full three step correction, I would go:
          1. M105 or UC
          2. M205 or UP
          3. Wax

Just experiment with steps 1 & 2 to see what you like best and what suits your paint type.

UC will generally give you a longer buffing cycle with less dust and an easier wipe off than M105 when DA buffing. Don't forget, UC is derived from M105, so a lot of that same great technology is still with you when using it.

hmm..maybe it was abit overkill buying both 105/205 and UC/UP? oh well now i have enough hehe
It just sux abit since i mostly buy my stuff from the UK (I live in denmark, scandinavia)
But thats just me not reading enough about a product before buiying it

Hi everyone, this is my first post here.. I have read the last 17 pages because I wanted to learn about this specific product. First off I am Not a pro nor a heavy dutie polisher. I am lazy and believe the faster and easier I can wash and wax my car the better I like it lol. There were alot of protucts mentioned here that I have no idea what they are. I bought a Black pt cruiser that had alot of imperfections in the paint. I went to Auto Value and bought Mirror glaze #2 and used a rotary buffer on the whole car. Then I used Mirror glaze #9. I was very impressed at how much those two worked for the car. Then I used a synthectic spray on/wipe off detailer. WOW the car looks awesome from when I bought it. Now after I just told you my life story...LOL I want to know if this new Ultimate polish will do anything to make it look even better? Also after everything I have done, will it still give it a deep shine look, I want it to be mirror like and a deep look. If I use it can I seal it with a wipe on/wipe of synthetic wax?
Please remember I am a noobie and try not to confuse me with the different waxes, polishes ect...if you can please try to answer the questions I have asked. I know I probly did the whole process wrong to begin with but it worked for me LOL
                      Thanks Alot guys!

                        Hi ptlover.

You chose some "older" type Meguiars products but the the products you used and the order you used them in is totally fine.

As for ther UP - I'm not sure it will add much more to your finish. The M09 you used already has some polishing oils in it , though not as much as UP, so the increase in shine / depth would be minimal I would think. Still, if you have the time do it, and let us know how it turns out.

You should apply a traditional wax first after your polishing step (such as NXT 2.0, Ultimate Wax or Gold Class Carnauba Plus) and then use a spray wax to maintain.

Have you used a rotary buffer before? Have a look at your car in full direct sunlight and let us know if you've instilled any holograms or buffer trails in the paint. It's easy to do if you're not experienced with a rotary. Worse still, it's easy to do permanent damage to your paint if you're not experienced with a rotary - so go easy!

Thankns alot Davey! I did try the rotary buffer but it was way to heavy for me and it for me couldn't get the round or curved area of the car. However I did go buy one of those hand held buffers which worked very well for me. I bought a small bottle of Ultimate wax so I will give it a good waxing but do I have to remove the synthetic spray detailer first and then wax? Can I just go ahead and wax it and use the detaier again?
                          Thanks!

You're fine to just go ahead and apply the UW. Just make sure you wash or QD the car first obviously.

You would then maintain your wax protection using a spray wax such as UQW.

I noticed that UP was being a bit stubborn on my dark green Mustang as well. The end result is but I also learned not to be stingy with the amount of UP to use. Wipes off MUCH easier when its still very wet on the surface.
