    Re: Ultimate Wax

Can I still throw on a coat of GCCP on UW? I love topping with GCCP.

Can this also be applied over either A12 Cleaner/Wax and Colorx?

Hard to say. Once we get it in our distribution center it gets sent out to Meguiar's Direct warehouse and all other channels. Whether anything would ever get held for initial release through any one channel is a marketing decision we aren't privy to.

Mike, since it's 100 pure synthetic, how would you compare its durability compared to NXT 2.0?
Definitely longer lasting that NXT 2.0 under identical conditions.

            Re: Ultimate Wax

I've been wondering if a successor to NXT would ever be introduced. As longtime readers of MOL know, NXT has been plagued with complaints about durability and streaking. I expect that Meguiar's has solved both problems with Ultimate Wax. And the fact that it does not stain plastic trim is huge. May I assume that like Ultimate Quik Wax, UW may be applied to plastic trim precisely for the purpose of protection? If yes, then this product will appeal to everyone who owns vehicles that have lots of cladding and plastic trim. Why use two different products when you kill two birds with one stone?!

By the way, how long does the sealant need to set-up before being buffed off? (Perhaps this question has already been asked, but I didn't see it in my quick perusal of the comments.)

Ultimate Wax sounds like a product that will now directly compete against synthetic sealants like Blackfire Wet Diamond, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, and Menzerna PowerLock, yet at a price that will hopefully still attract a wide consumer market. It's more expensive than other sealants that we find at places like Advance Auto; but it's less expensive than the above-mentioned sealants. The high price of the wax will be a hurdle to be overcome; yet as the boutique wax market demonstrates, people are willing to pay more for waxes they believe to be superior.

I already own too many waxes and sealants, so it's unlikely I'll be purchasing it anytime in the near future; but nonetheless I am eager to read the reviews.

I believe you should add Liquid Glass to that list of sealants. It is less well-known among most people but highly rated by many that use it. It is a little more expensive at $27 for 16 oz.

Would you describe the look as "carnauba" based on the darkening effect with good depth or is it more of a "sealant" wet glass look?

If that's the case then this will replace my NXT 2.0.

We're hoping to have at least a small sample available then, but we're not making any guarantees.

Answered a few posts above yours:

UW is closer to a polish/wax because of its ability to darken paint. No cleaners in it though.

Wow and I just bought me some M21 2.0 in bulk.

Oh well, you can never have too many products on the shelf IMO...

When will we see a review on this?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

In all honesty, we haven't played with it as a trim dressing and it isn't really intended for that even though it won't stain trim. We fully expect some people to experiment with it, some with excellent results and others with less so, but that's what happens when using a product in a way other than designed.

Dry time is similar to that of NXT, maybe a bit less. It can still appear to be a bit wet but it will wipe off with ease even then. The polymer load is such that the swipe test may not be 100% accurate here - give it a good 20 minutes or so before wipe off.

Here's a little tip at wipe off: if you find any visual unevenness after wiping it off (slightly darker patches due to inconsistencies in thickness of application) then very light spray some plain water onto a clean, dry microfiber towel and wipe the car down as a quick follow up. And by "very lightly spray" we mean exactly that. In fact, spraying a mist in the air and catching it with the towel is sufficient. Definitely don't over do it here. What happens is the polymers are still quite dynamic on the surface immediately after wipe off, and it they aren't pretty evenly distributed you may see some slightly darker patches because of it. That very lightly damp microfiber helps to shift things around, evening out the layer.

We hesitate to even mention this but we know some of you MOL folks are extremely particular about how things perform and you tend to notice very minute details. As you might imagine, if the above does happen it's going to be most noticeable on darker non metallic colors and under certain lighting or viewing angles. But the polymers are easily spread and the final result is fantastic!

Personally speaking, I'd say it's still more of the sealant wet glass look, but the darkening prevents that from being the sort of shine that has been (not kindly) described as "wrapped in Saran Wrap" plastic-y.

                              Re: Ultimate Wax

i may sound stupid, but a very small disappointment, as there is no carnauba or natural wax included, i was expecting something as mixture of polymer and natural wax, but im sure meguiars must have come up with a well reasoned solution. so this is the undisputed new top of the line wax right?

Well, GCCP is a blend of polymers and carnauba wax. Undisputed top of the line totally synthetic Meguiars sealant.
