It is a plastic dressing but it's nothing at all like ICE. Not even close..... or should we say, ICE isn't even close to this.

This is an aerosol dressing that will hold up to repeated washings, heavy rain, etc.

Thanks Michael for the clarification. . . .honestly, I did not no know Meguiar's made a dressing for plastic and I have been using the "other stuff" for about 2 years now on the plastic parts. I picked up some Mirror Glaze 40 the other day and I will be picking up a can of this stuff as soon as it hits my local Autobody Supplier(Wesco). One other queastion, is Mirror Glaze 40 safe to be used on Line-X Spray On Bed Liner's?

                Re: Vinyl & Plastic Coating

M40 is a water based dressing with moderate cleaning ability. While it's safe to use on your bed liner, it may not be your best choice overall. It's designed for textured plastic and vinyl and, since it's a water based product, it will come off in the rain or when you wash the vehicle.

                  I don't mean to hi-jack...but...

What do you recommend for Line-X type bed coatings? As rough as that stuff is, it's just too rough for most products (I can't get this sentence to make sense).

                  Thanx!

So is this stuff the same as Ultimate Black or what? I need to get some type of dressing for my truck plastics and now I'm confused as which one to get?

I'd go with All Season Dressing for durability, or Hyper Dressing (wont last as long, but should spread easier)

Some people like to dress the bed liner, some think it gets a bit slick in the rain... just have to see what you think I suppose.

Well, dont get too confused... just have to try something at some point. One reason for all the dressings is that some people like one thing, and some one else likes something different.

I'm not a big aerosol fan, so that would kind of help make up my mind. If you like it, try it.

Line-X, Rhino Liner and other similar coatings can be darn near impossible to apply a dressing to, but the good thing is that they usually don't really need a dressing. And most of the time you don't want a dressing applied to them because it might make things slippery. This particular product, being an aerosol, might be the ticket if you really, really insist on applying a dressing to the liner. It dries very nicely, especially if you apply it lightly, and it doesn't just wash off in the rain or your next car wash.

Depending on the size of the area to be dressed and the convenience of masking off surrounding painted areas, you might want to go for this product. Remember, it's an aerosol so it comes out of the can in a very fine mist like spray. That means if you try to apply outside in a breeze, you're going to have issues with overspray, etc. But for lower trim like spoilers, splitters, air dams, under the rear bumper, wheel arches or grille inserts it's great stuff.

                            Michael/Murr...Thanx for the replies.

The slipperyness has always been a problem and why I've NEVER used anything.
I guess I should have just mentioned,"...to keep the liner close to the deep black that it was when new."
They do fade, even with keeping the stuff scrubbed clean.

As a side note, LineX does (or use to) offer a 're-coating' just for appearence...but (if I remember right) was in the neighborhood of $200! At those prices it can have that nice matte black look-it IS a truck after all...LOL.

                            Thanx again...

Hmmmm, seeing Remond's makes me think of just trying some house wash...the stuff one uses on vinyl siding.

                              I'll report back tomorrow...

Well, today is 'tomorrow' and in a word or two...'house wash' did absoluttly nothing.

To be honest, the bed is not badly faded and is kept fairly clean with an APC and gentle scrubbing. I was just hoping for maybe a little more 'black' to show or pop.

Now, as long as I was playing with the wash...hey, let's try some Westly's "Bleche-Whit." That DID show some improvement. The Westly's definately cleaned the LineX better than I thought it would...being a bit more clean than when I started, the 'black' was just a little , well more black.

Conclusion: Just gonna have to live with an off-black truck bed for now. Maybe, just maybe I MAY do the whole bed prior to winter and see what it looks like next spring.
