Looks to me like Meg's/3M has been busy revising patents it has acquired from other manufacturers. I think this is the same brush that used to be sold by the guys who made the EDGE pad system, but theirs had an orange handle....

Oh, that's right. . . 3m acquired edge. Now where are my self-centering Meg's pads??

J/k. I have the Edge version, works well.

Yes, this is an existing tool that has been rebranded as a Meguiar's part, just like the Grit Guard.

It is a terrific brush, however, and we are huge advocates of keeping pads clean. As important as that is with wool and foam, it is going to be critical with our new D/A Microfiber Pads. More on that whole system later though - sorry.

Does it have hard bristles like the original pad reconditioning brush? The reason I ask is because the original orange brush had very stiff bristles eating up the face of my W8006 foam pad. It was literally taking away fine particles of foam from the pad.

A brand new W8xxx pad will shed some particles all by itself - its sort of a by product of the manufacturing process. This brush, while identical in construction to the original (except for color, of course) shouldn't cause a problem with the pad unless maybe you're being a bit overly aggressive with it.

My LC pads didn't shed but 2 Meg's pads did. Not all of them. Probably they were older or something in when they were manufactured?

A must for the new d/a pads. Very interesting.

The Meguiar's Pad Conditioner brush will feature a perfect balance of cleaning ability, while offering safer foam pad cleaning. The bristles have been optimized for both wool pad and foam pad cleaning. Unlike the other pad brushes mentioned, we will be utilizing a softer bristle which will all but eliminate any potential foam shredding.

Frequently cleaning wool, foam and microfiber pads will yield optimal results. Utilizing Meguiar's Pad Washer at the end of the job for deep cleaning pads will prolong pad life and provide consistent results.

Yep, I'm really excited about hearing more on the microfiber system.... I think it's going to change how "pro" detailers do things, and really start to have a great alternative to rotary buffing on moderate swirls and scratches (up to 90% of what we deal with).

That is very good to hear, 'cause my old pad brush would eat Soft Buff 2.0 foam as a light snack.

Compressed air cleans the MF pads quite well...
