  • 2010 GMC Sierra Z71

    2010 GMC Sierra Z71 with 23k miles.

Client uses it as a work truck.

Its been six months since I have applied or did anything to the paint.

Just a basic detail and cleanup during the winter.

Truck has some mild marring & RIDS but thats expected for a work truck, plus this is not a correction type detail.

    Before:

Started out by blasting the bed of the truck with water, followed by the wheels, tires, wells, and then finally the body.

I sprayed all lower panels with All Purpose Cleaner 4:1 and let it dwell on the dirt/mud.

The wheels, tires, & wells were prepped with All Purpose Cleaner & Super Degreaser and let to dwell for several minutes.

The bed, wheels, tires, & wells were foamed with a combination of Deep Crystal Car Wash & 3D Wash & Wax.

Various brushes were used for agitation, then rinsed.

The body of the truck was foamed with:

    Super Soap - 5oz.
    3D Wash & Wax - 2oz.
    ONR - 2oz.

The truck was handwashed with Meguiars wash mitts and a yellow bone sponge in some other areas.

    Rinsed clean.

The engine bay and painted shuts were wiped down with a spray bottle of diluted ONR and microfiber cloths.

Carpet and upholstery was given a dry brush & vacumm.

The complete interior was given a dampened cloth ONR wipedown & and an application of Quik Interior Detailer.

The jambs were given an ONR wipe down as well.

Glass recieved Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1 using terry towels.

Rubber mats were washed with 3D Wash & Wax via paintbrush.

The truck needed some light prepping before applying any protection.

The paint & chrome was clayed with Detailing Clay (Mild) & ONR at clay lube dilution.

Stoners Tarminator & an old plastic card was used to remove some yellow paint from the painted surfaces underneath the doors & rear fenders.

The paint was given a one step with:

    #205 - Ultra Finishing Polish /PC/LC 5.5' white/S5 - Hood only.
    #66 - Quick Detailer (Cleaner/Wax) /PC/LC 5.5" green/ S5.

The paint & all chrome was then waxed/sealed with HD Poxy.

    Tires/wells dressed with #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner.
Bedliner/toolbox recieved an All Purpose Cleaner & ONR wipedown.
Gas pump hose recieved several applications of All Season Dressing.
Tailgate shuts were given a thorough ONR wipedown.

The bed is still drying out in the photos as well, no dressing applied either.

    Nice work Nick!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

HD Poxy is a sealant with a bit of wax in it.

I wish that were my shop though.

This is the client's garage which is connected to the house.

The detail seamed to turned out good! Just wondering about #66, that I see your using quite often. Comparing to #6, which is best if you have a paint in god condition and just want to boost the paint with an AIO?

                          Thanks!

Picked it up from Scottwax over on Autopia.

Leaves a fresh clean scent and leaves the vinyl looking pretty good.

The GM pickups have a lot of plastic & vinyl in them, for lightly soiled interiors I will use QID or ONR at QD dilution.

66 does have good cleaning and light correction ability.

Client was not paying for any correction work either.
