  • Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2011

What a difference a year makes! 2010 saw the worst storms in close to a century here in Scottsdale, but 2011 is sunny and 70 degrees - just gorgeous!

Our Special Events Team prides themselves on having very shiny rigs!

Not all the cars here are pristine - some are survivors in need of some TLC, like this E-Type Jag.

Others, like this old Buick, are in a bit rougher shape.

Heck, some of the things for sale here aren't even cars....

Classic muscle, with a 426 Max Wedge.

    Classic British.

    Classic American.

    Classic flames.

Classic Fire Chief - here to put out the flames maybe?

    Classic.... unusual. Goggomobil anyone?

    Or maybe a little Crosley?

Off to a new home, and it looks pretty happy about it!

    Flat black, flat serious.

    Fins!!

    Bigger fins!!

    You win.

Would you like your Mustang with a roof, or without?

Doing a D/A buffer demo - showing the different pads.

This is our demo car for the seminar, and it's a mess.

How not to hold the buffer - you can see that the pad has stopped spinning because it's not flat on the paint.

Up next, Ultimate Polish followed by Ultimate Wax.

Half and half - swirls gone where we did the demo while the rest of the hood is still a mess.

    More to come tomorrow!

I got to watch a little a bit on TV and saw the sale of a pair of Corvettes. Correct me if I'm wrong, they were the first one and last one from the St. Louis assembly line. Unique pair.

Glad you are enjoying the weather. It's a wind chill of 13 below right now and headed down to 25 below by morning. Could be worse...

Here's a quick update for you - it is crazy busy here!

Yours truly hanging out with John Hennessey

This the US Navy ambulance that transported President Kennedy's body once it arrived back in DC following his assassination.

Here's how Speed gets all those close up shots on the auction block.

The cars may all look great on TV but in the harsh light of day you see things like this. You have to admit, though, that these are very nicely spaced buffer swirls!

We also see things like this sweet old Dodge pickup......

.....with this in the back. And no, we did NOT plant this!

Thanks for sharing Mike. My wife and I watch the show with envy, and would love to attend if nothing else to see cars that we would never get to see otherwise.

I don't think my DVR will hold much more of Barrett-Jackson, but I think I saw the high point of the auction with the donation of the Richard Petty race car and then re-donation.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                      I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                      Remove swirls my friends.

Hmmmm I wonder where can I get one of those.... j/k hahaha!

The transformation you did on the hood was amazing. Now I know how to really handle the D/A polisher. My arm speed is around 2x slower that what you were doing lol! No wonder it takes me forever to polish a car! Thanks for the good demonstration!

I can't wait to attend one of your TNOG.
