  • Detail: 1998 TT Camaro SS

Well, finally got around to being able to finish this car. We had a few setbacks coupled along with bad weather but we finally got a break this weekend.

    Cleaning:
    - Washed the entire car including door jams twice using two bucket method, grit guards & Meguiars hyper wash.
    - Entire car was clay barred using clay magic (blue) including the windows to remove over spray (using the red aggressive clay from Meguiars).
    - APC 4:1 used on wheel wells and inner wheel barrels.
    - APC 10:1 used on dash, interior pieces, and seats.
    - Interior vacuumed.
    - Windows treated with Stoners Crystal Clear.

    Correction/Buffing:
    - Meguiars M105 Ultra Cut Compound using Orange LCC pad.
    - Meguiars M205 Ultra Finishing Polish using Black LCC pad.
    - Show Room FX Blazin Maize using LCC blue jewelling pad.
    - Show Room FX Carnauba Crystal Black Wax using LCC blue jewelling pad.
    - Some panels required the combination of M105 using the Purple Hybrid foamed wool LCC pad.

    Dressing:
    - Tires and trim dressed with Showroom FX white pearl dressing.
    - Wheel wells dressed with Meguiars Natural Finish (matte)

Getting started. You can see the thick layer of dust that is covering the entire car:

Pretty much the entire car looked like this:

SS wing removed to clean and correct underneath it along with the perches:

    Deck lid corrected:

    Another shot:

Deck lid good to go. Wing ready for reinstall:

    Dust, it's inevitable with black:

The weather was overcast yesterday so I was only able to get shots with my sun gun. 98% of the car is swirl free when checked on the previous day:

    SS wing:

441 LSX twin 70 mm turbos:

    RAW HP:

Total time spent: Roughly 18 hours and it needed every minute of it. This is normally how the car stays but since being down for two years, it got a little abused. It usually gets washed/waxed every quarter.
    Thanks for checking it out.

TOTALLY....TOTALLY....TOTALLY BEASTLY! What a set up for an SS! Looks fantastic too! I love Camaro's and call me crazy, but I'd love to have a late 80's IROC-Z in that fantastic dark red if I could find one in good shape. Sweet to know you're a next door neighbor of mine over there in Irving, too! Keep that Camaro shinin' and I'll see you on the roads!

On about 15lbs it should make right around 900-1000rwhp. On full tilt it should make roughly 1300rwhp or so with race gas.

It has a 441 LSX block with twin 70mm turbo's. Full rear suspension with 12 bolt, coil overs, full front suspension. It has a stock t56 transmission but has a powerglide going in for the track along with new wheels/tires.

This combination has the capabilities of running a low 5 second et in the 1/8th mile.

Thank you guys for the kind words.

It is not completely done yet. It needs a few small items to be tied up and then it will hit the dyno.

I like how the license plate says RAW HP, but it's boosted . Great job cleaning it up though.

This is a new build that is almost completed. (customers car) It stated RAW HP when it was a 414ci LS motor that made 550rwhp all motor.

It's in the works of getting new plates. Always going to be some kind of haters.

Actually no I do not have a shop. I just started out in the business this past year, just one of those cheapy kinda guys working out of his garage (gotta start somewhere though). I just have a really big passion for seeing immaculately cleaned cars! I currently just use the Consumer Line and maybe 2-3 products from the Mirror Glaze Line from time to time, but they all work brilliantly. My car is black as well and it's really a nightmare to keep it absolutely perfect, but it's always fun to go out and just get down and dirty making my car look perfect.

I currently live about 5 mins west of DFW International Airport (dad's job) right off of Glade Rd., just off Hwy. 121 in Colleyville. Business hasn't been good because I haven't gotten a lot of consistent customers (and I probably won't for awhile with this weather), not to mention I don't carry all of the professional type equipment and products (G110v2, M105, M205, APC, APCP, HD, ASD, etc.), but I'm hoping to get some more business from around the area once the spring and summer rolls around.

Hope to see ya at the track or something, and keep ur Camaro looking great!
