94 lincoln town car Paint help/suggestions

hello
my name is Christopher i was wondering if anyone has any helpful tips on fixing the paint or making it look a lot better. just want to see if i can save it with out having to get a paint job. the trunk and back bumper need the work everything is in great condition.

Hi Christopher, and welcome to MOL.

We've moved your post to Detailing 101 as it's a better place for this discussion - you'll get more traffic.

Unfortunately, however, there really is only one answer to your situation - repaint the car. What you're looking at here is extreme clear coat failure, and there is nothing you can do to correct this other than a full repaint. In your car's case, the clear is literally peeling off the trunk lid at this point and there is just no way to stop it from spreading. The color coat that's being exposed is not designed to hold a shine, so all the buffing and polishing in the world isn't going to make it glossy - at least not for any length of time.

Well i just bought the car yesterday lol everything works and runs great beside the paint on the back side have u ever had it fail? the air suspension what is it like?

and it sounds like i have to repaint it darn it was looking forward to trying to fix it? is there any paint i can by and try to do it my self im a do it yourselfer kinda guy! more braging rights ha! thanks for the tips

Christopher,

Let a body/ paint shop take care of respraying your car. The effected area is quite large. They'll sand it down, prime it, spray base and clear coat, level the paint by sanding and compounding.

Later when you learn how to mix, spray and level paint you'll be able to do it by yourself. Unless you have time and somebody to teach you now.

I sugest a re spray as well. Im guessing thats a Jack Nicklaus Signature Series towncar, which featured a green body with a white vinyl top with white leather interior trimmed in green correct?

You will get your money back on the repaint if it is a signatue series when the time come to sell
