Really, our S6BP is a better choice due to it having the hook & loop all the way to the edge, which gives better support overall and prevents getting any bit of trim, etc caught between that open edge of pad and backing plate. One of the great things about this system is how close these pads can come to an edge and still provide cut.

You said it....... probably not a good idea. Not a good idea at all.

As David says, you can expect excellent results with other liquids as well. What you may find, however, is that other liquids will create more dust, may not be anywhere near as easy to wipe off, and may not give a huge amount more cut than this system. Of course, how much cut you need is going to be dependent on how hard the paint is, how bad the defects are, etc. But if you've read through the reviews that have been posted in the past 18 hours or so, you'll see several cases of people removing sanding marks with the cutting disc and DA Compound. Do you often need much more cut than that?

    Mike,

Does the finishing wax(D301) contain *any* SMAT or DAT abrasives, or is it a chemical cleaner/wax/sealant product? Also, do the MF finishing discs have any cut?

Re: Using Meguiar's D/A Microfiber Correction System

The D301 does contain some very fine SMAT abrasives, and it is these coupled with the light cutting action of the microfiber finishing disc that refines the paint following the compounding step, actually removing any haze created by that first step.

So, yes, there is mechanical cutting going on with both the liquid and the disc.

Thanks. Does D300 finish as good as Ultimate Compound? Generally speaking..

Thanks Mike, that's good to know.

On the flip side, can both polishes be used with foam pads, or will one run into problems?

I know they're designed to work within a system but people will try things.

    Mike,

How about using this System on factory single stage paints? Is there gonna be any problem with that?

The pad conditioning brush was designed specifically for the System or any brush will do the trick?

That totally depends on the paint - we've seen cases of it finishing beautifully and cases where there was noticeable haze. But the Finishing Wax/Finishing Disc cleaned up that haze with just a quick application.

In fact, the SL55 AMG shown earlier in this thread displayed very noticeable hazing following the compounding stage, but just a quick application of Finishing Wax brought out the final finish you see in those pictures. Oddly enough, the Corolla didn't show nearly as much haze.

Sure, you can use the liquids with other pads. In fact, on extremely delicate paint you may find a foam finishing pad yields a clearer finish than the microfiber disc does. Those will be rare cases, and only with extremely delicate paint.

Factory SS should pose no problems. Our new pad conditioning brush may look like it's just a black version of another popular brush, but we had the bristles altered to be a bit softer and therefore less aggressive on the pads. But overall, any decent pad brush should get the job done for you - just use it frequently!
