Finally some new touches to my car.

I installed some 17x7 Weapon rims made by MB Wheels. I went with a gunmetal color so it won't overpower the car. I did a quick wash with NXT Car Wash and Endurance Tire Shine on the new rubber.

Looks good. Gives it a meaty look without sticking out past the fenders or making it look like you put a 4x4 suspension on your car. What tires did you go with?

Thanks Don. Yeah, I didn't want something that would chip paint on the roof. LOL

I went with Nankang 205/40R-17XL tires. They were $65.00 each from Discounttire.com. I bought the wheels from them too. They had pretty good reviews. The road noise is a little much, but I'm comparing that to my OEM wheels that had touring tires.

Thanks Blue. I was going to get a black wheel with a machined lip, but they were out of stock. I'm glad they were now. I'm really happy with these wheels.

While everyone likes to show off high priced exotics or radically customized cars, hot rods, muscle cars, etc, it is really nice to see someone taking such good care of what is, relatively speaking, not a very expensive car. Rascal, that is by far and away the best darn looking Escort I've ever seen, and it's great to see you taking such pride in your ride. It's hard to believe it's 9 years old it looks so good! Major respect for treating it so well for all these years.

Thank you for the kind words Michael. I was the same way with my 89 Escort LX hatchback. That 89' was my first car and purchased it with money I saved up from working. It taught me a valuable lesson in taking care of my stuff and other's as well. When I traded the 89' in, the salesperson didn't believe me when I told him it was the OEM single stage paint job. I told my sweat and Meguiar's kept it looking good all those years I had it in my possession.


I can proudly say this car is mine. The best part is this...its paid for. Thanks again for all the kind words Michael and everybody. I really respect the opinions of all the members here and it means a lot hearing your encouraging words. Thanks again.

The color of the wheels looks perfect with black! I would put money on it that it's the nicest escort on the road. Paint is glossy, too.

I know this topic is old, but I just wanted to do a quick update. I still own and drive this car today. I put a different front bumper on it from the last ya'll have seen it.
