Just bought used car. Paint in good shape. I have a old style 10" R.O. waxer/polisher is this one OK or should I invest in a newer one like porter cable?

Invest in a DA such as the G110v2, GG6, or PC7424XP. It's money well spent and it will pay for itself within the first couple of uses. Not to mention, the versatility in which you can switch different size backing plates to use with different size pads, and you can also get a brush attachment to use on carpets.

You will get better corresction, etc with a better bufffer.

You can certainly use what you have and some SwirlX and wax, etc, it wouldnt hurt anything.
