  • DA MF Correction System - Jet Black BMW X3

    Step 1:

    Meguiar's G110v2, Correction Compound D300, 5" microfiber cutting disc DMC5

DA speed 4, slow arm speed, heavy down pressure, working on small areas at the time, using pad conditioning brush after every section pass, 6 passes per section

    Step 2:

    Meguir's G110v2, Finishing Wax D301, 5" microfiber finishing disc DMF5

DA speed 3, medium arm speed, medium down pressure, working on small areas at the time, using pad conditioning brush once per panel, 6 passes per section

    Step 3:

Meguiar's G110v2, Ultimate Wax Paste, 7204 4" black finishing pad

DA speed 2.5, fast arm speed, 3 passes per section

    Step 4:

    Glass - Glass Cleaner Concentrate D120 10:1,
Tires - All Purpose Cleaner D101 4:1, Hyper Dressing D170 1:1 High Gloss,
    Wheels - Wheel Brightner D140,
Exterior Trim - Hyper Dressing D170 3:1 Satin Finish.

    Final results:

DA Microfiber Correction System offers great correction ability. D300 has a similar feeling to M105's paint removal but there's no dust and buffing cycle is much longer. D301 finishes surface really nicely. On this paint after Correction Compound I could go straight to a any wax/ sealant. The microfiber discs offer nice cushioning feeling.

This System is denitely for anybody who's familiar with DA polishers. Following Meguiar's guidance will result in show car shine. D300 really likes down pressure, slow arm speed, frequent disc cleaning and small working areas for maximum defect removal.

Ultimate Wax is like Next Tech Wax 2.0 on steroids. It darkens paint nicely adding to it depth and high gloss. Wipe on and wipe off are super easy but thin layer is the key.

Here's my new favorite combo for paint correction projects:

It was hard to imagine this level of correction possible with dual action polishers but Meguiar's delivered it.

    Nice results!

Your experience was very similiar to mine; 6 section passes, heavy pressure, and slow arm speed.

When cleaning the pads with the brush I found it to help to invert the polisher so particles of spent liquid would fall off, what did you do?

      Greg,
Thanks for the step by step and super job on the vehicle, looks great.

Do you feel you saved a great deal of time using the DA MF system over the more traditional method?

Doing all of your "extra" work at the end, do you worry about overspray and removing the wax you just put on?

      Wheels - Wheel Brightner D140,
Exterior Trim - Hyper Dressing D170 3:1 Satin Finish
(Thanks for this list, I'm always interested in how folks handle the details of a detail !! Including the dilution rate is helpful too)

Again, thanks and it looks great.

Great job Greg! BMW looks really nice.

I also found that one of the keys to operating this system successfully is pressure. This system loves pressure.

By the way, Ultimate Paste Wax is great stuff also!

            Jesus Greg,

That is amazing. Was there any hazing left behind after the first step? Will have to get this system after my return home.

              Thank you, Sir.

I worked on softer paint than you had to deal with on the Audi. But still used pretty hard down pressure in Step 1 with D300.

I kept my polisher in vertical position while cleaning the disk with pad conditioning brush. You're right, it helped.

                Thank you, David.

I needed 3-4 traditional steps without this System to finish the same way. It's definitely a time saver and a great correction tool.

Good point on overspray. I used applicators and applied products far away from the vehicle. But if it was a windy day ... you're absolutely right.

You're 100% right about the pressure. But of course you had your hands on The System before me working on the black Pilot.

I usually use liquid waxes but with Ultimate Wax I switched to the paste version.

Your review of The System was the great help indeed. How could I not like it after you gave it two thumbs up.

Ultimate Wax gave the paint extra darkness and depth on top of D301's richness.

                      Thank you, Mike.

I know that you're BMW specialist. You always keep your fleet of Bavarian cars in perfect shape.

D300 finished LSP ready. But of course D301 is a nice booster after the compound. And UW a nice booster after D301.

I'm sure you're gonna like this System in your detailing arsenal.

I appreciate kind words from somebody whose work I always admire.

It wasn't me, it was The System which made it so easy. And UW on top of it.

Sounds and looks like the results of a show car shine with the layer of UW after D301. So after my return home not only will I be looking to get this system but will be getting after the 2012 products. After all I wont be back untill Christmas.
