  • 1959 Impala: Hood and Trunk color sand

Hey everyone. Here are a few pictures from a 59 Impala scheduled for a little color sanding. Only the hood and the trunk were sanded and polished. The car was going back in the booth the very next morning to respray the fenders (repaired rust damage). The hood was already sanded with 1500 before I started and because we were on a time crunch (i hate this) I literally wasnt going to have time to finish with 3000 grit or move to a 3rd polishing stage, so 2500 grit with Megs 105 followed by Menz 203 had to do.

    Products:
    Megs Unigrit 2500
Megs 105 w/ LC foamed wool pad
Menz 203 w/ Gloss-it green pad (extremely slow passes)

With the combination of the zenith method and extremely slow passes with both the wool and foam pads I was able to achieve great clarity, thanks to the paint being on the soft side. If we weren't so rushed for time a final polish with 205 or 85RD would have followed the 203. No LSP as the car was set to have the fenders painted the next day. Once the paint has cured i will return to give the car as final once over. So for now here are a few before and after shots. Excuse the poor quality shots, new Canon coming soon!

    Thanks for looking!
