Here’s a nice little project I finished last week. 1989 Porsche 928 S4. All original, 30,000 mile car. Not incredibly rare, but a nice car! Original single stage paint that the owner wanted smoothed out a bit. I let him know all the negatives of sanding original single stage paint, but he was bound and determined to get this thing as flat and smooth as he could. After some long talks, I convinced him to be happy with about a 50% reduction of the orange peel. And about a 50% reduction of the pitting on the hood and front fenders.
Process:
Wet Sand 1500 grit
Wet Sad 2500 grit
Rotary with a Meguiar’s Red Solo Wool Pad and M105
Then polish with DA on a MF Finishing Pad and DA Compound(D300)
Then topped with Wolfgang DGPS. 12 hours later it got a coat of Fuzion.
Total time was 30 hours, over the course of 3 days.
