  • Detailer Line Gallon Containers

I'm in the minority here I'm sure.

I have a pump dispenser on all of my Detailer containers. I happened to pull a couple out today to refill spray bottles and noticed liquid all over the shelf underneath everything. Apparently the plastic tube from the pump managed to push through/puncture the plastic of the container causing a slow leak. I've apparently lost almost 1/2 gallon of my APC which is a real drag because I've only filled those spray bottles up once or twice. Never noticed it because there's another container in front of the APC and it all ran to the back of the shelf and then down the back wall behind all of my detailing supplies.

Anyone else had this happen? Seems to be a bit weak plastic if the pump straw/tube managed to poke a hole through it just sitting on a shelf.

The very tip of the pump tube poked through, but also kind of plugged the hole which is why it only leaked slowly. I swears that's what happened, lol. Kind of figured I'd be alone on this one.

My last touch gallon jug did this... What I did from that point on was to cut the intake tube shorter so that it's not hitting the bottom part of the jug. I lost 1/2 of the last touch too.

I pour mine and use an Adams ez-funnel on top of the spray bottle.
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

I guess I got my pumps a few years back... maybe the tubes are shorter.

That's a bummer. The only container I have a pump on is my Shampoo Plus. On the rest of the gallons I use this:

I really wish I got this too. I already pre-ordered a lot of pumps before ordering my gallon stuff. I think that this is an easier methodology.

Another vote for pouring into other containers and using a funnel.

I've been using the flip top caps that ADS sells lately.

I've always thought you would get some oozing / dripping out the end of the spout with the pumps, never thought about the intake tube puncturing the bottom of the container. Is it possible to replace the intake tube with a piece of flexible vinyl tubing that you can get at any big box hardware store? Cutting it is quick and easy answer if you want to keep using the pumps.

I suppose I could simply cut the tube. I found this out in the middle of washing the car, so I haven't given it much thought yet.

Good to know the Adam's Funnel works on the spray bottles though. I've considered buying one for other things, but wasn't sure if it would fit.

My Hyper-Wash leaked out about a 1/4 of the bottle before I noticed it. I do not have pumps in my gallon jugs and I was not able to determine what caused the leak.

Like I said, this is what I did to fix the problem. I think the long intake tube of the pump was causing a stress point in the plastic bottle.
