do posts have to be approved before I can see them?

I've created a few threads on this forum with no problem, but today, I've tried to make a thread and it isn't showing up.

Does an admin have to approve a new thread before we see it?

Until you reach 30 posts it has to be approved. The only one that doesn't is the introduce thread.

During a member's initial 30 posts things like live links, images from remote servers, some language, etc can put a post into moderation. Your initial 30 posts will not all be put into moderation first, though, just those that raise a flag in the system. We get a fairly large number of spammers registering here so we use this method to weed them out.

I would guess this is the reason I can't add my car pic as my Avatar right now. The picture is fully within specs but it keeps says "upload failed". I agree it's a good measure to take though.

EDIT** Guess it didn't fail as it's there now. It kept saying it failed though. odd but..cheers to my my avatar being up.
