  • 5th Wheel Exterior help needed.....

    Hi guys,

Been awhile since I posted as I sold my mobile detail company in July of '10. I have since started and co-own with a friend of mine Precision Storage Concepts in Temecula, CA. We do indoor and outdoor full service storage for boats, RVs, trailers and cars as well as full detailing.

I have detailed a few motorhomes and trailers so far but this one has me stumped. This 5th wheel was pretty oxidized but no more then others I have worked on....so I thought. So far I have gone over the whole thing with the 110 at speed 5 with maroon pad and no. 49 oxidation remover then followed with the yellow pad at speed 3 with the cleaner wax....

It looks much better and now shines in the right light but at the right angle, there are streaks and dull spots....almost like it is left over product but won't wipe off(if that makes any sense).

    My questions are:

    1. What am I doing wrong?
    2. What would you use with the products I have pictured below?

I am yet to try the rotary or a wool pad.

Like I said I am fairly experienced but this one is giving me trouble so I am looking for advice from experts.

    My products:

It was hard to get a good picture but here is the best I could come up with...

Medallion filon siding such as that jayco has, requires a white wool pad and color restorer first than use your DA to finish.
Although I prefer a yellow wool blend pad and rotary to finish.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worthwhile.

Yeah, something with more oils might be an idea.

Sounds like the voice of experience talking here - rivalrider, if you haven't stepped up to the rotary yet (assuming you're comfortable with that tool) then it might be time to do so. If you'd rather stick with the DA then move up to M61 One Step Compound that you show in your collection and give that a go. We use it to great effect on a regular basis as it provides quite a bit more cut than M49 does.
