  • Hot Rims Aluminum Wheel Cleaner safe for bike?

    Hi
I'd like to know what kind of wheel cleaner I must use for my bike and big-scooter.
Some year ago in a old scooter (who I sold) I used a wheel cleaner and after 15 second the paind/coat drop out
I son't belived to my eyes so the whell become mat/opaque and not shine ...
Now I'd like to use the Hot Rims Aluminum Wheel Cleaner but, I want to know if this product it's safe for motorbike whell.

Best regards and I hope to receive some answer

Do you know what material the wheels are? Or what they are coated with?

The rim is made from aluminum (or I assume, an alloy), but there are some parts in the hub of the rear wheel that are made of steel that would easily get wet but not easily dried.
The Burgman wheels are painted with the same stuff that also comes in gold and you use for Christmas decorations.
I don't agree that the paint on the wheels is poor quality. It is the same automotive grade paint as the paint on the body. The paint code is YD8 and the color is Metallic Sonic Silver.

Hot Rims Aluminum Wheel Cleaner is safe for use on highly polished bare aluminum, powder coating and even anodized finishes so it should be safe on any finish you're working on with your bike. Just make sure to not let it dry on the surface and to rinse it thoroughly with water.

Keep in mind, however, that since it is gentle enough to use on highly polished aluminum, it is not a terribly strong cleaner. It is quite likely that you will need to agitate with a brush, at least to some degree, in order to remove the worst of the dirt on these components.

By the way, we've deleted your duplicate thread on this topic - let's keep this in on place please.
