is this paint too far gone?

i know i have some bare spots that need recoating...but overall, does the paint look like it's too far gone? i played around with a clay bar for a bit and it didn't really do much...but i'm no detailer either, i don't know what exactly i should be using...any advice would be greatly appreciated...

First off, clay is only going to remove bonded surface contaminants, it won't bring up the gloss on badly oxidized paint.

Judging from the model year range of this truck we're assuming you've got single stage paint on it. When claying did you see any of the paint color transfer to your clay? If so then that's a strong indicator of single stage paint, which is actually really good news. Good news because single stage paint can be brought back from near dead to look really good again. No, it probably won't like it's brand spanking new again, but there's no reason why the rest of the truck can't look as good, if not better, than the door in this picture.

Speaking of the door, why is it so much darker and glossier than the rest of the truck? Has it been repainted? Did you do something else to it?

We can give you some pointers, but first let us know if you plan on working by hand exclusively or if you have a buffer of some sort to help with the project.

This may seem a little off topic but why is the rear tyre smaller than the front ones?
