  • is the DA polisher suppose to be noisy

hey guys just got my DA polisher. I gave it a test try to see how fast this thing goes. its crazy fast for speed 1 already.

question is, is it suppose to be loud?? it is almost as loud as my vaccum.

and also i want to remove swirls and scratches with ultimate compound best result is speed 3 right? u sure it wont burn through the paint cuz its freaking fast.

It is a loud machine. If trying to remove swirls I would go to speed 5. If you follow proper technique and read the techniques given in this forum, you will not damage your paint.

I turned mine on the other day doing my wife's car in the driveway and I had elderly neighbors yell out the window at me. So, yeah, it's pretty loud.

Don't let the no-load speed fool you - the tool will slow down once you get it on the paint, especially once you start putting some pressure on it. At speed 3 you not only won't burn the paint, but you probably won't remove defects either. At speed 5 you still won't burn the paint but you will be able to remove the defects.
