Proper steps of detailing new black car?

Hey everyone. Thanks for helping me out these past few days with all my post. I'm getting ready to buy my "detailing kit" and wanted to know what products to buy. My black jeep is new so just wanted to get detailing products to get rid of minor swirl marks and protect the paint. I was thinking of just getting the "polish" and "wax"... But now I'm thinking of getting the new ultimate compound with the wax. What do you guys suggest I get, and how do I use the products correctly?

How is the paint condition already? Swirled? Oxidized or is the Jeep brand new? If it's new skip the Compound and buy, Ultimate Detailer, Claybar, Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, and then Ultimate Polish and then Ultimate Wax. I just did mine this weekend with these products on a black car and it looks awesome. No swirls and the metallic flake in the black paint just POPS!!

DC1 then Ult Polish is a bit repetetive.

Ult. Polish is a stronger cleaner than DC1.

A thorough wash, then a thorough clay job is essential for you to perform before using any other processes. A car fresh off the lot or riding in a transport semi or train car may very well be covered with bonded contaminates. A truly flat surface is a requirement for great reflections.

If the surface isn't too swirled up or covered with dealer installed swirls, using Ultimate Polish will be sufficient, followed by the wax of your choice.

If you feel the need to perform some paint correction, remember start with the least aggressive product in a test spot before proceeding. SwirlX is good and if really minor correction is needed ColorX is good too. Although ColorX is a cleaner wax, I would still cover it with your wax of choice. Ultimate Compound is a great product, but try it last if your swirls persist. You may need to go over it with something less aggressive to remove any micro-marring it may create.

Well said. Whether the vehicle is just off the dealer lot or it's a few years old, the only way anyone can say for sure what it may or may not need is to first clean it thoroughly and then inspect it, both visually and by touch. We've seen brand new cars that were, to put it bluntly, a mess - they were in dire need of a full blown detailing. Heck, we've seen brand new cars sitting in the dealer showroom that were in desperate need of some TLC. "New" does not necessarily mean "perfect".

If you haven't yet read through the 5 Step Paint Care Cycle article, you should, and start using that as a guide from the start of vehicle ownership. While you only need to do what the paint requires, that requirement can vary dramatically from one vehicle to another.
