  • orange peel....

Is there a way you can tell if its in the clear or the base paint? Factory paint, GM manufacture. And will the MF system take care of it? Or wet sand? I heard wet sand on factory paint isn't the best idea since the clear is so thin!

do you have pictures? Most of the time orange peel comes from the clear. Is this on a re-spray or a new vehicle?

Well not new, its an 07 but not re spray, the front bumper cover is re spray but the rest of the car is factory. Can't do pictures right now, no good camera at my hands. But here it is, pontiac g6 black. I'm sure it is in the clear, but was just wondering if clear orange peel looks different then base orange peel. I just looked through some pictures that I have and there is no orange peel showing.

It's in the clear. What you're seeing is orange peel on the surface, which is where all the gloss and reflectivity is. Even if there was orange peel in the color coat, shooting clear on it and sanding it flat will yield a flat appearance.

We don't recommend wetsanding factory clear in an attempt to remove orange peel, and we wouldn't recommend it on a respray unless you know for sure how much clear you have to play with.
