  • cleaning and protecting flat vinyl interior

    hi guys,

sorry i cannot seem to find a thread discussing my concern

i have a car with flat black dash, door sidings etc vinyl/leather combination interior finish

its in good shape right now because its new but i guess i would need to clean it and protect it in the long run.

i want to maintain its flatness though for the original look. what interior cleaning and protecting product do you recommend? i read most makes it a bit shiny which unfortunately i wouldn't like.

    thanks

(and hopefully what you recommend will be available here in meguiars philippines)

I would give Quik Interior Detailer a try.

I cant guarantee the availability, but I can talk you through some products...

      - Quick Interior Detailer is a great product that is a mild cleaner, and will leave a little UV protection behind. It is also no gloss. To clean more, you can spray more on the surface. But if sprayed lightly on a cloth and wiped around, it acts like a very nice duster, and leaves most of the looks of the dressing behind.

      - Natural Shine will be the lowest gloss interior dressing. A dressing will have more UV protection and moisturizing ability than QID, so I would certainly want to use one once in a while.

      - A product like the All Purpose Cleaner or the new Leather/Vinyl Cleaner is good for when stronger cleaning is needed.

What I like to do is start with a clean surface, and apply the dressing.

Then every week or two or so I will use the QID as a duster, just spraying on the cloth and wiping, to pick up dust/dirt.

After a few times of that, I will feel like re-applying the dressing. If the surface is pretty clean, I'll QID then dress. If it is dirtier, esp the steering wheel, I will use the stronger cleaner, then dress.

      And then repeat....
