  • Help! Gold Class Leather Conditioner Problem

I just conditioned the black leather seats on my 2006 Jaguar with the Gold Class Leather Conditioner. Now, the seats are riddled with grey streaks where scratches were/are -- ones that were there before but were still black and ones that I never saw before. Will they eventually recede? Were they simply dirty before, so they blended with the black seats, but now they are showing? The car had been conditioned before at the carwash, never any problems. Should I use more product, buff more?
    THANK YOU!

How come no one replied to his problem. Even I ruined my beige leather seat using this same conditioner. The product might be defective.

Hard to say from not much information... Could just be excess residue.

Re: Help! Gold Class Leather Conditioner Problem

Apologies for having missed this when originally posted a few months back. We're curious as to how the seats look now and what, if anything, was done to correct this appearance issue.

For future reference, and to others who will read this, leather conditioners are generally extremely mild products that contain some light conditioning and moisturizing ingredients but only light cleaning agents. That includes our leather cleaner/conditioners as well, although our new for 2011 Gold Class Leather & Vinyl Cleaner is a very capable leather cleaner that can quickly and easily bring back the original color to leather seating.

But no matter which product you select, they should be used sparingly. People have a natural tendency to overuse these products, and most others as well. But all of our leather conditioners are water based, so if you ever do run into an appearance related issue it can almost always be corrected by simply soaking a clean cotton terry cloth towel in very warm water, wringing it out and then wiping over the treated surfaces. The very warm, moist towel will break down the product and effectively remove it from the surface. If you've applied the product quite heavily you may need a couple of applications to get it all off.

This same process can be used for our vinyl dressings like Natural Shine, Supreme Shine and M40 as they are also water based.

          Good news!!

I always use 1 for aloe cleaner and then step 2 for conditioner on my burgundy custom leather seats whe they are very dirty I use the gold class contd just for keeping the seats condition but never to do the whole job.

Is good to hear the new product will be able to do the complete job for cleaning and condition for leather or almost close to it!! however the warm water tip is very good too but this made me think...... Is better to apply the products on cold or warm leather?? the heat may help to the cleaning action ??

I think the lack of replies could be related to lack of pictures. It's hard to reply with any confidence when I can't really "see" the problem. It's kind of like asking a doc "what could this be" over the phone - they're gonna want to see you to know for sure...

weak and noticed when the leather is warm I get better results and the leather is softer kind of so I just want to check if its just my apreciation or

Upholstery surfaces should be cleaned prior to application; vacuum surfaces with a soft brush attachment and the wipe with a damp towel, apply product, remove any excess. All car care products should be applied very sparingly- more is NOT better.

The warmer temperature will allow the pores of the leather to open up more and the hide to be a bit more flexible. These two characteristics will aid in a little bit better job of cleaning the leather.
