  • Is this the right plan for my car?

    1) wash
    2) clay
    3) wash
    4) cleaner wax ( I have lots of Meguiar's cleaner wax, both liquid & paste)
    5) final polish ( please provide the name of a Meguiar's product for this final step)

If this is not right, please correct. Thanks

Sure, nothing wrong with that for a quick mild detail.

You could use any wax you like... Ult. Wax is the new one, but Nxt 2.0 is still popular. Or Gold Class+ if you liked the carnuba side of things.

No this not quite right. You do not need to wash after you clay and if your last step (#5) is just a pure polish, you really have no protection on your car. You need a wax as your final coat.

If I were you I would:
      1. Wash
      2. Clay
      3. ColorX (a cleaner/polisher/wax)
      4. NXT (wax)

          3) wash Should not be a real need to rewash following the clay process
          4) cleaner wax ( I have lots of Meguiar's cleaner wax, both liquid & paste) At the minumum, yes, and this can even be a stand alone product. But following a proper evaluation, and depending on your desired goals, it may not be aggressive enough to correct even fine swirls
          5) final polish ( please provide the name of a Meguiar's product for this final step) A true polish, no, but a final wax or sealant such as NXT Tech Wax 2.0 or Ultimate Wax, yes - unless the Cleaner Wax is being used as a one step and that's all you need/want

If this is not right, please correct. Thanks

You might want to read through the 5 Step Paint Care Cycle in order to gain a better understanding of each step, and how to properly evaluate your finish.

Just a tip. When you clay. do one panel at a time and clean off the extra when your done each panel. the longer it sits the harder it is to clean off.. just sayin
