Last night was sort of a "black & white" night, as the following pictures will reveal. Interestingly, the European cars we worked on last night had the more delicate paint while the Japanese cars had the "harder" paint - go figure.
It's beginning to be standard operating procedure for our first vehicle of the night to be a black car full of holograms. This 335i was no exception, and the owner had recently acquired a DA but was in need of some technique tweaking to realize it's full potential.
We did a test spot on the hood using Ultimate Compound/W8207. In talking to the car owner, Chris, it turns out he was running the tool at too slow a speed and not using enough pressure. That combination caused him to not be able to remove all the defects he wanted, but we put him on the right track.
A little testing on the very badly swirled rear quarter panel.
After a single pass of Ultimate Compound/W8207.
Time to let Chris get to work on his car, improve his technique and gain both confidence and a swirl free car.
Henry brought his best friend along for the evening.
See, black and white night.
This MINI had suffered at the hands of the body shop so we tried a few things on the respray to bring back the shine it should have.
Yep, still black & white.
This Lexus is a year old and has been well taken care of, with one exception..... it had never been waxed until last night! After claying, which it desperately needed, we demonstrated proper technique for hand applying a paste wax.
This EVO loved the DA Microfiber Correction System. The paint looked very glossy and haze free following the compound stage, but some of the scratches in the hood where just too deep to remove safely.
If everyone here learned about this event online, is this technically a flash mob buffing event? Or do you just need a group to deal with a vehicle this big? Oh, and this truck plus the EVO above finish off the night's "black & white" theme.
