Headlight and Taillight prep before Lamin-X?

The videos that are on YouTube have some pretty straightforward instruction albeit detailed info on installation. However, there isn't much in the way of prepping the lights for install.

My question is: Should I prep the surface with ,say, Plastx before install? Or should a soap and water or QD wipedown be sufficient? Has anybody done this before? Process used if so.

I may be overthinking this, but I want it look good and last a long time.
