"Car Wax Ratings" Consumer Reports Nov 2011

I just got my Nov 2011 Consumer Reports; Meguiars NXT Liquid Wax was the top rated liquid wax (69 points) and NXT Paste was 4th rated Paste Wax (55 points). I was wondering why Meguiars Ultimate Line of liquid and paste wax wasnt used for the test. Do you think Meguiars has any input in to the product selection by Consumer Reports?

I'm pretty sure that they don't. CR is big on making sure that manufacturers and retailers don't know that it's CR buying a particular product to avoid any interference with their unbiased testing methods.

Like everyone here, I would have liked to see more Meg's products tested, but there are far too many waxes and sealants out there for Consumer Reports to test them all. I think they did a fairly good job of picking sealants that represent the typical lineup at most auto parts stores.

CR started compiling the report some time ago and Ultimate Wax was not yet available. Simple as that.

I think their last report was from August of 2006 if I remember correctly. I am thrilled to see that Meguiars topped the list and knowing how great UW is I have no doubt that the next time Meguiars will be tops again
