Correct me if I'm wrong, this doesn't have Carnauba in it does it? So please let me ask a question, if I use this QD between layers of a sealant, would it diminish the bonding of the top layer?

No carnauba in this, no. You should be perfectly fine using this to remove dust between applications of your favorite sealant or wax.

Re: Gold Class Premium Quik Detailer

Alright, I'll bite... How does this work better on "dark" cars?

A while ago, Meguiar's made a statement about another company that had a "black car shine" kit. The general premise was that clear coat is the same regardless of the color of the car. I believe Mike ******* wrote the article on it. So how does this make dark cars darker without tinting the clear coat, and how is it the "darkest"?

And how would this look if used on a white car? Does it just provide depth to the clear coat, giving a better wet-look?

I think they mean the results are more noticeable on dark colored cars..

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Its a good question, and I guess what we're all expecting is that this product contains darkening agents which deepen dark and warm colours.

Re: Gold Class Premium Quik Detailer

The statement about it being so effective on darker colors is because this product, much like NXT Tech Wax 2.0, Ultimate Quik Wax, Ultimate Wax (liquid or paste) has the ability to darken the paint, partly due to some polishing oils and partly due to other ingredients. There is nothing specifically colored in the product, like there is in some products designed specifically for black paint. It's just that the effects of these ingredients is more noticeable on darker colors. Black and red tend to show this effect the most, while the lighter the color the less the impact - meaning a white car won't look any darker at all after using this or any other product since white just doesn't have the same properties as darker colors.

The two images below have been posted here on MOL a few times but they address this particular discussion even though the product used was not Gold Class Premium Quik Detailer. On this non-metallic red paint you can clearly see the darkening effect of, in this case, Ultimate Wax. This is similar to what you can expect with GCQD on darker colored paint. Again, white and silver just don't have the ability to show this sort of change.

                Thanks for the reply!

I'll think I'll pick up a bottle for my dark blue car.

                  Hey Michael,

Would this be your recomendation for a quick detailer to use on a carnuba wax job like Gold Class or #26 to best maintain the carnuba look? Or would QD in the red bottle or maybe Final Inspection be better? All I'm looking to do is clean the already waxed surface but not really add or change anything, if that makes sense to you.
I saw it on the Internet...it must be true!

This issue came up on another forum:

My response, bearing in mind some non-Meguiars terminology:

"Meguiars fans want a QD that compliments the qualities they like in their favourite Meguiars wax or sealant. This mostly explains the proliferation of QDs in the Meguiars range. Each QD is typically partnered with a wax or sealant to keep customers happy. In the case of Gold Class wax, a matching QD that enhances the carnauba finish is long overdue and welcome. Until now Gold Class fans had to use something like Last Touch or Ultimate Quik Detailer. This wasn't the end of the world, but it didn't provide the degree of compatibility Meguiars users have become used to in the company's other lines of products.

The same applies to the numerous Meguiars spray waxes."

"Better" is tough to define in this context.

If you just want something inexpensive that will safely remove light dust and fingerprints on an occasional basis, then QD in the red bottle is probably "best".
If you want something like the above but you do this very regularly so you'd like to buy in bulk, then Last Touch is a great choice.
If you really want the hydrophobic polymers that create crazy water beading, and you do this from time to time, then UQD is going to be "best".
If you want the hydrophobic polymers and you wipe the vehicle down almost daily, then a bulk packaging like M135 offers is the way to go.
If you're heading to a show and you've got a dark colored vehicle and you want that extra little edge once you arrive on the show field, then Gold Class QD will be your "best" choice.
In a body shop, it's M34 - end of story.

You're right, "better" can mean a lot of things. Let me rephrase the question and try to be morer specific:

Will the new Gold Class QD affect the 'carnuba look' of a carnuba waxed car less than the other QD products?

Our friend from down under says it very well:

Sounds like the answer is yes. Now I just have to find the stuff! Not for sale here yet...

I'm almost out of UQD so I'm looking forward at giving the GCPQD a shot. I have a black car and a champagne color suburban so I'm curious to see the difference in both colors. I'll post results when I do the comparison.

I might have missed it, but I'm assuming this has been discussed.

Has anyone seen the difference between GCDS and Ultimate Quick Detailer?

Also, the back said not for certain paint jobs. I have a BMW Jet Black and I'm sure it's fine for mine. What are the drawbacks for using it on those other types of paints?
