In mine, is a black foam applicator to apply the wax and a black microfiber towel to remove the wax. The black applicator is similar to the Meguiar's yellow foam applicator and the black microfiber is similar to the yellow Meguiar's microfiber.

Well it looks blue to me, very dark blue but blue. OK it's similar, so then what is the difference? Towel seems a bit thinner than the yellow ones.

Color.

To me the black towel seems just a tiny bit thicker and fluffier, but my yellow Supreme Shines have been washed a bunch of times. Someone here on MOL stated they thought the black foam applicator was a little more coarse textured than the yellow. I don't think that. Someone else stated the black towel would hide dirt. It would show up more on yellow. Dirt on towel...bad thing.

I use the black pad with UW, no complaints and just yesterday I used the black towel and Ultimate Quik Detailer, no complaints and all one a car with delicate black paint.

I find the black/dark blue applicator a bit gimmicky - and also potentially harmful. While we all know that we should apply wax only to a clean car, if, by chance, you miss a bit of grit or dirt and pick it up with the wax applicator, you can easily see it on a yellow one, but just as easily miss it on the black.

The applicator and towel are of the same spec as our typical applicator pads and Supreme Shine towels, just black in color. Funny that we've seen a few comments about potential negatives of a black applicator pad for wax when it's been common for years that people DA apply wax with a black finishing pad (and that practice long predates our introduction of a black finishing pad!).

Good point Mike - which is why I use a white ultra-finishing pad for wax and sealant application on the DA
