  • Buying meguiar v2 Polisher Questions

I been using meguiar ultimate compound on my truck with a sears rotary buffer which was a no no and a waste of compound. So I decided to get the meguiar g110v2 from amazon which comes with the w68 backing plate. Does this plate accept the use of Meguiar's DMCKIT6 6" DA Microfiber Correction System Kit?

Should I just get the 3 different 6.5 pads(Polishing, Finishing, Cutting)and continue to use my meguiar ultimate compound or get the g110 with the mf correction system instead.

I was working on my 2007 frontier which is in very decent paint condition but has its scratches etc..

MF system is an amazing product, but it cuts pretty deep on clear coat if using D300 along with cutting pad. That's why I don't use it on my own car as regular maintenance choice. But, I suppose that using UC could be a different case.

If you have W68DA plate already, you should be getting very decent result by using 2.0 yellow polishing pad with UC. But, in case you need more cut on the paint, it will be nice to have red cutting pad on hand.

For MF system, it is recommended to use 5" pad for the best result. For that, you will need W67 plate instead of W68 to hold the 5" pad. I have tried 6" pad on my DA with W68 plate, and to be honest with you, I did notice that DA had a little hard time spanning, but the result was still great to me. I suppose that you can try 6" pad if you wish.

What backing plate is the match for the 6" correction system?

6" if you want to leave on the edge, 7" if you want to be relaxed ..

For the 6" MF pads, you need to get the S6BP backing plate. This should already be included in the 6" MF kit.

Matching the backing plate to the pad is very important, both from the perspective of pad/backing plate overlap and the composition of the hook & loop attachment system.

If you pick up a G110v2 it will come with the W68DA backing plate which is perfect for our Soft Buff 2.0 pads (W8207, W9207) but if you want to use the DA Microfiber System with this tool then you need to pick up the W67DA backing plate. The W67DA is included in the 5" DA starter kit if you choose to go that route. And it is the 5" version that is recommended for use with the G110v2, not the 6" version. The whole system was optimized for 5" discs on a DA at specific speeds for the two steps.

After every panel with the mf system you blow the pad with air, do you need to reprime the pad again or just add couple dabs of product?

Found it in a sticky, Thank You

The pad will stay primed, however, so subsequent applications of fresh product requires no more than a few pea sized drops. That
