  • Pictures from April 7, 2012 - Saturday Open Class

We had a great class over Easter weekend with a good gathering of true enthusiasts. After a fairly thorough discussion over some donuts followed by a pizza lunch break, we turned our attention to the garage where we performed a demo on a maroon Tahoe. First, we cleaned the very dirty car with Ultimate Wash and Wax Anywhere... a great alternative in light of the water restrictions in Irvine.

The surface felt very rough to the touch, so we clayed half the hood.

After we'd removed the above surface contaminants, we turned our attention to the swirls, scratches, and oxidation. Two passes with Ultimate Compound, a yellow pad, and our DA at speed 5 made a terrific difference.

We then jeweled the paint with a little Ultimate Polish at speed 2 and a yellow pad (just to finish removing the super fine scratches left behind.)

Of course we didn't want to leave the surface unprotected, so we finished it off with a little Ultimate Paste Wax (a super thin coat of course... no need to waste product)

Once out in the sun, the results were pretty impressive. In fact, it looked like a whole different colored car!

One car that showed was in pretty desperate need of some headlight repair, so we showed the ease and speed of using a headlight repair kit. The before picture says it all..

First, we hit the headlight with plain water and the 1000 grit sanding disk...

followed by a thorough sanding with the 3000 grit sanding disk...

and then finished with a wool pad and PlastX

At the end of class, Barry stayed for some special help on his Harley and Manj wanted to try a couple of products on his Shelby... both really sweet rides!

Special thanks to Joseph Kearns for taking all of the pictures. Thank you to everyone who came out and spent their Saturday with us at the Meguiar's garage.

    Looks like a great class.

Wouldnt you want to jewel the paint with a finishing pad?

you are absolutely right under most circumstances. However, there were just a few super light scratches left behind... and in that case... there is nothing wrong with applying some polish with a yellow pad.

I am glad my Grandpa and I were able to attend this class
Joseph, as always I enjoy taking your class.

I am actually surprised some of the pictures turned out not half bad.
