Hey guys, its my first time wet sanding paint and i got into a little trouble. I have a white audi a6 2009 and on the passenger side window frame at the top there was a scratch. It was too deep for polishing compound so i decided to try and wet sand it. I went a little too far, and now i can see about 4 layers I'm thinking. its a ring that goes outwards.in the middle it is a yellowish paint, then white, then white again, and then clear coat. How can i fill that in? I have touch up paint and i tried that but its not smoothing out so well. Any advice? If needed i will post pics.

repainted, as in repainted and blended in in that spot. it's an art form to fix a spot like that and blend it in. i'm guessin that when you were sanding you had some clues, like the water changing color? out of curiosity, what grit sandpaper were ya using?Comment

I think it may be time to take it to a body shop and call this a learning experience. It sounds like you have gone through the clear coat, and possibly the base coat.Comment

Ouch. Yes, you have definitely gone through the clear and attempting to correct this by blending in with even factory touch up in a rattle can is going to be really, really tricky unless you're a master at the process. You might be able to find a good airbrush touch up guy who can fix it, but even then blending and matching the pearl or metallic effect is going to be tough. Talk to a few different body shops and see what they say. If you're lucky and hit on the right one they may be able to fix this for less money than you might think. Don't be put off if you get what sounds like a crazy high price at first - some body shops will only do things one way while others have guys who can work a bit of magic and won't charge an arm and a leg.
