  • Is Yellow Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad OK with M205?

I am now proud owner of M105 and M205 duo. I have burgundy and red 6.5 foam pads. I plan on using M105/burgundy and then finishing with M205/yellow. Are there any pitfalls? I do NOT have the tan finishing pad. I had used UC and SwirlX respectively in the past and it worked for me.

I would want to stick with the yellow (polishing) pads as much as possible for both products.

I don't see a problem for using a polishing pad with m205 unless the car has super soft paint then you may see hazing

Some paints respond very well to M205 on the polishing pad while others need a softer pad for that final polish to reveal the best possible finish, especially with a rotary buffer.

M105 and the burgundy foam cutting pad is a pretty aggressive combo (you can remove 2000 grit sanding marks with it) - what are you trying to do with it?

I have used (older) M105 when it first appeared on the market by hand and was thrilled with the results. When I ran out of M105, I picked up UC at local store and have used it with the burgundy pad. I think I posted few pictures in my gallery.

Now that I have ran out of UC, I ordered M105+M205. I plan on using it on red 1999 Camry for minor paint correction. I am under (mistaken?) impression that it is NOT a good idea to cross-contaminate the pads, so I would like to keep M105/burgundy M205/yellow combination.

I've tried every pad with products to see results. You can do what your heart desires. I've used a compound on a waxing pad for giggles, to see if it would work.

For safety sakes, try it with the yellow pad and M205 on another yellow pad. The burgandy pad with M105 can be harsh as Mike said. I don't even use a burgandy pad.
