  • Question Touch-Up paint question

Going to fix a small rock chip on my bumper. I was just wondering how long I should wait to apply the clear coat after the touch-up paint?
Should I wait 24hrs or is it safe to apply the clear coat an hour after the last coat of touch-up paint ?
    Thanks

    Re: Question Touch-Up paint question

Chip repair usually deals with such a small amount of paint that the clear can usually be applied after just a few hours. If you're using a two part system specifically for chip repair there should be some instruction on this point. What's more critical, though, is that you allow sufficient dry time for the clear before spot sanding and buffing it out, if that's the process you're using.
