Another Saturday Class, another great group of Car Crazy enthusiasts!

We had a contingent from the Morgan Plus 4 Club turn out for this class, and it's always a treat to see a few of these beautiful British sports car parked side by side!

This was the condition of the paint on our demo car..... no, not one of the Morgans!

This is a late model Honda Accord and the paint was just hammered!

It was full of these really nasty straight line scratches that went from side to side on the hood. Not to mention the really bad swirls, holograms, water spots........

The first order of business was claying.

Then, as is customary in these classes, we first demonstrate proper technique for removing these defects by hand using Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Wax. For some odd reason, nobody ever wants to try this later on!

Wiping off the compound before it dries! Remember, only your wax should ever be allowed to dry on the paint.

We then move on to the other side where we use the same three products on the G110v2 DA buffer. Here, Ultimate Compound is applied to a W8207 Soft Buff 2.0 foam polishing pad.

Slow overlapping passes, moderate pressure. That's how you maximize results.

The group we had on this particular day was extremely well versed in use of the DA buffer and they had heard a lot about our latest addition to DA correction, the DA Microfiber System. But since they had never seen it in action, we decided to go over the subtle differences between using this system and traditional liquids with foam pads.

Here we have added just 3 pea sized drops of D300 Correction Compound to a DMC5 microfiber cutting disc that is already fully primed.

A quick preview of the results with the DA Microfiber System

Here the D301 Microfiber Finishing Wax is drying on the paint

Our two test spots in direct sunlight - hand application on the left, machine application on the right. We're not worried about the small bit of swirls right next to our tape line as we didn't work the edges along the tape as aggressively. But look at the difference in the finish, even on the hand applied side!

Time to let the students loose with the buffer.

The upper panel is the hood that we corrected with the DA Microfiber System. The lower panel is the fender that we did not touch at all. Now the car owner just has to go home and finish the whole job, but we expect the entire car will look like the hood when he's done, and that will make it look like a brand new car!!
