  • Windshield scratches

I have a 2006 Malibu that I bought a couple months ago. Since I don't know much about detailing, I took it to a local guy. He did an ok job but now I need to do a few things myself.

The first job to take care of is the windshield. It has some scratches from the wipers and I don't think they are in the glass. Just on the surface film that doesn't wash off with windex and paper towels. I could be wrong , but would like to try some sort of polish that I could use by hand.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to MOL!

If these marks are more "wiper trail" than actual "wiper scratches" you should be able to clean them up with Ultimate Compound. If they turn out to be actual scratches then you'll need a much more specialized process to remove them, something like CarPro CeriGlass (not a Meguiar's product, just so you know).

      Thanks for the welcome.

I'll give the Ultimate Compound a try. As for the other product, that may not be worth the effort because the windshield has two chips in it and at some point I'll probably need to replace it anyway.

Like sid when its an actual scratch the compound needs to be more abrasive than glass so it needs to be hard.
