  • Red paint turned white after compounding.

I'm a beginner and painted two new body panels last fall. The surface was a bit rough and not much shine, so I hand rubbed some Meguiar's Mirror Glaze 9 on a 6 inch test spot on both panels in May. It smoothed things out, but left the surface with a dull white glaze. I then tried Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and had the same result on the orginal spot and additional areas. The two panels came pre-primed by different sources, one red and one black. I applied 2 coats of red base and 2 of clear coat from spray cans mixed by an auto paint store. OBTW, my test strip looked very good with just the painting.
What is going wrong and how should I correct it. Thanks.

Our apologies for the late response here - your post got caught in moderation due to it being posted in "Hot Topics" so nobody could see it until now.

Any chance you can get some pictures of this situation? How did you apply the products - what sort of applicator, how much pressure, did you let the products dry, etc?
