  • How to properly do a 50/50 IPA wipe down?

I have searched for some suggestions & information on how to properly do a 50/50 wipe down with no luck. I have a NBP acura and it's just been freshly clayed, compounded, & polished and I'm a little hesitant to just go right at it with a micro fiber and the 50/50 mixture. Is there a particular good way to do this without marring or introducing new scratches into the paint?

All you can really do is spray the panel and wipe. Just dont use much pressure.

Here's the newer product, which in my opinion works much better without any need of a mix up, CarPro Eraser:

It's great before final step of wax or coating applications.

I recently (a few days ago) made up some IPA as a 50% solution with de-ionised water. It does work well, but you might want to go over the panel first with a QD to make sure that there is no dust. IPA won't have any surfactants to try and capture the dust, so you'd just be dragging this across the surface of the paint.

As I think you identified, the IPA wipe down is normally done just after compounding / polishing, and just before waxing. I don't think I'd be happy about doing this is I hadn't only just finished polishing, because of the fear of what dust might be present.

If you keep that in mind, it's extremely easy... mist on, wipe off; kind of a like using a Quick Detailer product.
