  • Can you help me? I'm choosing a Wax for metallic gray color.

    Hello!

My name is Thiago and i live in Brazil. It's a pleasure to meet you.

I bought a car gray metallic 15 days ago and he never waxed.

I'm looking for a wax suitable for my car. I'm in doubt between: Meguiars Yellow Wax #2611 and Meguiars Paste Wax Ultimate. Or none of these is suitable for my color?

I would like an opinion, I'm entering the world of detailing now. I really wanted to keep the color of my new car always beautiful.

I will buy microfiber towel too.

    Thanks for responding.

Both waxes will work fine... The Ult. Wax will be the more durable of the two.

If it were me, I would consider doing something like an application of the Cleaner/Wax or ColorX first, then the Ult. Wax.

I would choose Ultimate Paste Wax as well, it'll give basically the same result as #26 except you'll have much longer durability

Wax selection can be a very personal thing as the differences in appearance they impart can be quite subtle, and we all have different ideas about what looks "best". As Mat points out above, wax alone is not the secret to truly beautiful paint - the prep work that goes into it before applying any wax can have more to do with the final look than the wax alone ever could. That prep often includes both claying and using a paint cleaner, or at least a good cleaner wax. After that, you need to look at what different waxes offer in terms of ease of use, durability, etc and select from there.

That said, on very well prepped paint, especially darker metallics like yours (and one of my personal vehicles as well) our Ultimate Wax paste is just fantastic. Not only is it our longest lasting and best protecting wax, but from my own personal point of view (and keep in mind this is highly subjective) it's one of the best looking waxes on the market, period, on darker metallic paint.

Since this is a new car that you want to keep looking great for a long time, we highly recommend you get familiar with our 5 Step Paint Care Cycle.
