  • meguiars scratch x 2.0 ,meguiars swirl x,menzerna sf 4000-who is the aggressive one?

Hello!i have purchase and going to apply meguiars scratch x 2.0 ,meguiars swirl x,AND the menzerna sf 4000 polish on my car in order to fix some defects on my paint.(some haze spots and swirl's)
my question is witch one is the aggressive one from all the 3 products and who is the gentle one.
my plan is to use first the "meguiars scratch x 2.0" then the "menzerna sf 4000 polish" and in the end to use the " meguiars swirl x" for the finish..or should i use the "sf 4000" for the finish?
i am going to work by hand..i don't have a machine.
i know that this is a "meguiars " forum but i hope u guys can help me about the "menzerna" too.
this is my first question here and i hope i didn't brake any forum rule..BTW English is not my first language ..
    thanks ..

Too be honest, all of those sound like they are in the same range as far as defect removal.

You may want to look into a bit stronger of a product to have with you incase you need it.

That would be something like Ult. Compound from Meguiars, not sure what the Menzerna would be.

We really don't think you'll need all three of these to accomplish what you're after - using all three won't gain you anything and doing so will only make a lot more work for yourself, especially since you'll be working by hand.

That said, of the three products mentioned, ScratchX 2.0 is the most aggressive but even then, in the overall scheme of things, it's not super aggressive. We highly recommend that you do a test spot first and see if corrects the existing defects to your satisfaction. If it does not, you'll need to step up to something a bit more aggressive, and that would mean Ultimate Compound. On the other hand, if ScratchX 2.0 does remove the defects, then you may want to do a finish polish step to really enhance the gloss before waxing. From the three products you mentioned, our recommendation would be to follow your defect removal step with the SF4000 rather than SwirlX.

Yes, we know, it's shocking that we'd recommend a competing product rather than our own, but there's logic behind that:
          1. You already have all three products in your possession
          2. Using both ScratchX 2.0 and SwirlX, especially by hand, is sort of a duplication of effort and that just doesn't make sense
          3. SF4000 is an excellent finishing polish, and even though you would get a better result using with a buffer, it's still the logical choice as a finishing polish, out of the three products mentioned

We should also mention that should you wish to stay within the Meguiar's brand, our M205 Ultra Finishing Polish would be a direct competitor to SF4000 and our choice for a finishing polish by hand or buffer, without hesitation. SF4000 is a diminishing abrasive where M205 is SMAT so your technique would need to vary slightly between the two. By hand, M205 may actually work a bit better for you because of the different abrasives.

Now, if you came here asking for recommendations as to what you should go out and buy for this project because you currently have no suitable products at home, we would recommend what we use with great success in every one of our Saturday Classes - Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish, and Ultimate Wax. In both of the images shown below, the test spot on the left side was done by hand using just those three products (the test spot on the right side was done using the same but with the G110v2 DA buffer). These are just two examples of what can be done with Ultimate Compound, Polish and Wax by hand.

Thank you for your kind and honest respond.i want to make sure that i was able to explained myself well about the project.

my plan was to use the "meguiars scratch x 2.0" only to fix a few Little areas on my hood (2X2 inch ), the rest of the treatment on my original plan was to polish the all hood (after the fixing procces with the "scratch x 2.0") with the with the"meguiars swirl x" to treat the swirls on my hood ,and in the end to use the "menzerna sf 4000" as Finnish before the Paint Sealant
do you still think that in this case i should not use the "swirl x" and go straight to the "menzerna sf 4000" ?

You will probably want to do a small test spot... but I think that fixing swirls by hand with the SwirlX or the SF 4000 will not be great.

You may find that working by hand, the ScratchX 2.0 or stepping up to the UC is a better way to go for swirl removal.
