Hey guys, here I go posting another thread via the Android app, let's see how it goes.
I recently bought a gallon size of RFEW. Went to use it today. I'll explain my process.
Truck has been driven in the rain the past week almost, man its been rainy here lately.
1) Went to quarter car wash, blew off the big stuff.
2) Got back home, truck was fairly air dried at this point.
3) Mixed up RFEW in warm water, 3 ounces in 3 gallons of water.
4) Used Megs wash mitt as wash mitt.
5) Worked section by section as instructed. Air temp was about 43F.
6) Immediately dried each freshly washed section. Basically used what is a big bath towel as my drying towel. That's what I always use actually, we have a shelf full of old bath towels made of cotton or whatever.
I think that thoroughly covers my process.
My questions are these:
1) When drying, the towel would make an eerie squeaky sound, like rubbing a towel on a surface that isn't waxed. Is this normal? I can assure you my paint has a solid coat of wax on it. Trust me.
2) As I was drying, it seemed tricky to actually dry the surface, in other words, everytime I did a pass to dry, a "sheet" of water would be left behind. Took lots of passes and rubbing to get the surface to dry.
3) Does RFEW remove dressings on plastic?? It was getting dark out by the time I finished so I need to double check my plastics tomorrow, but I couldn't help but notice that as I was drying my plastic panels, they seemed to have dried with a white tinge.
My last thoughts:
I wonder if the air temp was playing the biggest roll in this. It was pretty cold. Normally I would wash my truck at the coin op then bring it home with the heater on in the garage and do drying and waxing etc... In the warmth. I'll have to try again, but in the garage.
