  • Best product for Leather seats ?

    Hi guys,
I allready tried the 'Rich leather Aloe' cleaner & conditioner (2 steps) and I was extremely satisfied.
I was thinking of trying the GOLD CLASS cleaner and conditioner and then the sealer (black bottles)
What is the difference actualy between those products? what do you guys think ?
I'm talking about the paste, I don't like sprays or wipes.

seats are of a 91' Vw corrado, but in a very very good shape.

    Thanks !

    lexol conditioner

You can't loose, I wouldn't use a cleaner on leather. Lexol leather conditioner is a good product used for years. You get ultimate conditioning for hot and cold climates.

The GC cleaner/conditioner in the black bottle is a spray so you may want to stick with what you've got. I too prefer a cream but discovered that creams are very difficult to use on perforated leather, so I switched to gold class spray. It works great and saves a lot of time.

I use Optimum Leather Protectant on my customers cars and If it we're my own vehical I'd apply it every month or 2.
Also look into the New Leather Sealer System That would be my choice on a new vehicel.

Let's back up a second here and compare/contrast these products in our line up.

The "Aloe Twins" you've previously used are both excellent products, but the cleaner is pretty light duty. That's fine for new leather or leather that has been maintained at a high level for many years, but for more highly soiled leather it's not all that powerful. The Aloe conditioner in that pair is a great moisturizer for leather.

A couple of years ago we introduced our Gold Class Leather & Vinyl Cleaner and it's an extremely efficient cleaner, even on older badly soiled leather and vinyl. And it's the dirt that gets embedded in the pores of the coating on automotive leather that is the real threat to that coating. The coating is semi permeable and quite thin. It's also highly engineered to look, feel, stretch, etc just like the leather it protects. As dirt gets trapped in it, it starts to grind and abrade that coating, compromising it's lifespan. So keeping it clean is important not only for the appearance of the surface, but for it's durability as well. At the same time this cleaner was introduced, we tweaked our Leather Conditioner a bit, ensuring that it wouldn't dry white in the holes of perforated leather, along stitching, seems, etc. Again, this is a great moisturizer for leather and the coating on the leather. All of this material can and will dry out over time if neglected, so regular use of a light moisturizer is recommended.

For 2013 we introduced our Leather Sealer System, which is a two part process that utilizes the same cleaner as mentioned above, and a new polymer sealant for the surface. It's this sealer that is a bit unique to the whole process as it acts sort of like a synthetic sealant does on your paint. It leaves a non glossy, non slippery layer of polymer protection on the surface that can be considered sacrificial, just like wax or sealant on your paint. Highly durable, it still offers excellent moisturizers for the leather but it helps to act as a barrier against the fine dirt particles that can break down that factory coating and wear it out. With routine application, it's the polymers in the Leather Sealer that will take the hit from that dirt, not the coating itself.

So you don't need to purchase the Gold Class Leather & Vinyl Cleaner separately from the Leather Sealer kit as it's already included.

Not to hijack this thread, but ... I use Megs for EVERYTHING except leather on my '06 Saab vert. I tried the GC cleaner conditioner, but found that I really prefer Lexol. Does anyone have experience with Lexol and the Megs Sealer System that Mike referred to? Would love to know how they compare. The leather is in great condition; I want to keep it soft and also, since it's a vert, protected. Thanks in advance!

I would only use it on area's that are either vinyl or leather. For rubber and plastic that are lightly soiled, quik interior detailer works well. You can then follow up with one of the interior protectants. For heavily soiled rubber and plastic interior some APC or M39 works very well followed by a protectant.

I have used both lexol and the leather sealer system. Lexol is nice and does what it is supposed to do. I have switched over to the leather sealer system which works great. As stated, the sealer is like a sealant for your leather. I apply it every 3 months (4 times a year). Can't beat that. It is pretty durable. It also looks OEM rather than the shiny plastic look. With lexol I would apply it more frequently.

I use Gold Class Leather Conditioner and I think it's pretty great. I don't rub it in too aggressively, but more like a lotion, trying to let it soak in overnight. I believe it has saved the driver's seat from the usual excessive wear and damage found on the "impact" edge.
