  • IS Topping your favorate Paint Sealant with a Carnauba Worth it??

The Ultimate Liquid wax looks really good over a prepared surface. Just wondering if I would notice a difference topping Carnauba wax on a burgundy Vehicle??

Is it worth it depends on you. It is not necessary but can add a depth to the finish. Visual difference you may notice or may not. Burgundy can have a nice deep luster when finished well. If you are looking for shine...I suggest clay/compound/polish steps if you have not already. Then finish with the combo. Also when topping something make sure you look at the cure times on the bottle.

As a side note, visually I have recently noticed more luster, shine and purity when working with a single coat of NXT 2.0 rather than my usual sealant/wax combo. Since I have pretty much put nothing but NXT 2.0 on all the cars I work on.

Covering up the hydrophobic polymers seems like kind of a waste to me, but others like to mix and match. Just up to you.

Not to me personally.. Once or twice a year our V8 might be displayed so I might add a coat of Carnauba just for good measure, but the rest of the year the Ultimate Polish/Wax combo alone is the easiest routine i've had.. Well, aside from Cleaner Wax on my daily driver.

I take it that means you will try topping ULW with GC?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Personal preference thing. While it can add depth to what was usually a sterile but highly reflective shine on sealants in the past, but many of today's sealants can came close to giving that warm, deep, glow found on Carnauba waxes. The benefits may not be as huge.

These comments really sum it all up.

Even so, for those who look at detailing as a hobby, therapy, etc it can be fun to experiment with different waxes or combinations of waxes. That said, we've talked to some people who admit to having gone a bit over the top with this fun experimentation and now have literally hundreds of dollars worth of different waxes on the shelf and still go back to their one favorite time after time.

Remember, this hobby is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need therapy.

                  Guilty as charged.

Only thing is my favorite changes.
I could easily be considered as an over waxer.
