In the unofficial man cave I have a wood ceiling (cedar i believe). I know I am asking on a car detailing forum but this place is packed with knowledgeable DIYers of all types. The finish on the ceiling is that gold/yellow looking lacquer finish that just completely dates the room. Would like to refinish this and either bring it back to natural or stain it ebony. The room is about 20x20.
I understand the process as follows
1. use paint stripper to remove lacquer
2. sand to even out surface
3. stain
4. admire
But sanding the ceiling sounds like tons of dust directly onto my face. Plus the ceiling is sizable (not massive) so as a 1 man crew I don't see this as anything close to a single day job.
Any suggestions?
